Content Licenses & Attribution

Worlds built on the 5th Edition ruleset can import real, official content alongside anything Chronicled generates. That canonical content comes from free, openly-licensed reference material — never from copyrighted books, paid PDFs, or third-party aggregator sites. This page carries the attribution those licenses require.

D&D 5th Edition

5th Edition monster content available for import in Chronicled is sourced from the free System Reference Document 5.1 (“SRD 5.1”), released by Wizards of the Coast LLC under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (“CC-BY-4.0”), via a structured-data conversion by Tabyltop.

This work includes material taken from the System Reference Document 5.1 (“SRD 5.1”) by Wizards of the Coast LLC and available at https://dnd.wizards.com/resources/systems-reference-document. The SRD 5.1 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License available at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode. Conversion of this document from the original PDF to other formats was performed by the team at Tabyltop.

Spells, classes, and non-monster items are not yet available to import in the 5e ruleset — only Homebrew (AI-generated) content is available for those categories today. Chronicled is not endorsed by, associated with, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast.

How this shows up in the Archive

Any entry imported from official content is tagged with its source and license note directly on its dossier page. Reflavored entries (AI-rewritten narrative over unchanged official mechanics) and Homebrew entries (fully AI-generated, validated by this ruleset's real formulas) carry their own tagging too, so it's always clear where an entry's mechanics came from.
